- Audi quattro concept showcar chosen to participate in renowned competition
- Audi showcar entered in the category Concept Cars and Prototypes
“The Audi quattro concept reinterprets the sports car in which Audi introduced all-wheel drive more than 30 years ago. It combines an homage to our history with groundbreaking design, making the quattro concept the perfect car for the Concorso d’Eleganza. For more than 80 years, this competition has celebrated not just the history of the automobile, but also its future,” says Wolfgang Egger, Head of Design for the Audi Group and the person responsible for the design of the Audi quattro concept.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the debut of the quattro, Audi presented the Audi quattro concept at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The thoroughbred driving machine features a 300 kW (408 hp), five-cylinder turbocharged engine, a lightweight body and – of course – the latest generation quattro permanent all-wheel drive. Finished in Col de Turini White, the showcar is a production coupé that has been systematically refined with high-performance technology. The foundation is provided by the powerful Audi RS 5, one of the brand’s sportiest production vehicles.
In addition to the concept cars, 54 historic vehicles are competing in eight vehicle classes. They will be scored by a five-member panel according to the criteria design, state of preservation and originality.
