“The Q3 is an extremely athletic yet very elegant vehicle. It combines the powerful aesthetics of a robust car with the shape of a cool coupe”, explains Hans-Jürgen Abt. For the CEO of ABT Sportsline, the world’s largest tuner of vehicles from the VW Group, the latest offspring of the SUV family represents an absolute highlight in the product range: “In its class the Q3 is something special. For our designers it provides the perfect working basis, as it is both classy and dynamic”, states Hans-Jürgen Abt. For example the Abts were able to further accentuate the unique tornado curves of the Q3 with side sills. In connection with the striking ABT front grill and the front spoiler the inherently compact car seems more powerful and to have more presence. The rear wing, rear apron and exhaust pipe covers ensure that from the rear of the SUV you can see that the car has a good figure.

After all the ABT Q3 does not just look sporty – it is sporty too: the engineers from Bavaria are currently working on the final tests of the individual ABT POWER performance packages. But it is already certain that the new car will provide an additional boost of maximum sportiness and extra driving enjoyment in practically all situations. As a result the most powerful version of the 2.0 TSI is expected to offer 250 HP or 184 kW (series standard: 211 HP/155 kW). The 170 HP version (125 kW) has been converted by ABT Sportsline into a sports engine with 210 HP (154 kW). For SUVs, a diesel engine is of course always a good, economical solution. As a result ABT POWER is also available for both performance levels of the economic 2.0 TDI: the series standard 140 HP (103 kW) is increased to 170 HP (125 kW), while the version with 177 HP (130 kW) as standard offers a high-torque 195 HP (143 kW) after the power treatment by ABT. The turbo diesel with two litre cubic capacity is the first choice if you want a little more, for example if the athletic ABT Q3 is also to be used as a workhorse.

Regardless of which engine is chosen, the customer always receives a vehicle which combines maximum driving fun with everyday usability and reliability. The fact that handling and optics do not have to suffer due to the car’s diversity is proved emphatically by the SUV of ABT. And the new Q3 in particular is a really attractive car, its design elements harmonise with the performance improvements – both have been developed as it were from the high demands of ABT customers. Consequently the extravagant light metal alloys from the CR and DR ranges suit the ABT Q3’s powerful-robust coupe shape perfectly. It goes without saying that the alloys are also available in combination with strong load-bearing high-performance tyres – in accordance with the commitment to maximum urban sportiness.

The new ABT Tiguan : Nice to know you can do more

The VW Tiguan is the bestseller of its class in Germany. The brand new version of the versatile compact car continues this impressive story. At ABT Sportsline the car also sets benchmarks as underlined by CEO Hans-Jürgen Abt: "In our SUV range the Tiguan marks the starting point, it is a real lasting success story." Even on its debut in 2007 the ABT Tiguan showed its sporty nature with a powerful and elegant design. “With the new Tiguan we are also focussing on decent but confident style elements”, says Hans-Jürgen Abt. The world’s largest tuner of vehicles from the Volkswagen group also attaches the upmost importance to the “S” in SUV, as each ABT Tiguan is a bit quicker than the series standard model.

In line with the motto "nice to know that you can do more", the Bavarians present an engine range which has power in abundance. The specification book stated that the characteristics of the Tiguan had to be supported. In plain talk this means that the car should have maximum reliability, enjoyable driving characteristics on almost all surfaces and agility – and the engineers at ABT have done a good job: the successful 2.0 TDI version now offers strong 170 HP/125 kW (series standard: 140 HP/103 kW) or 195 HP/143 kW (series standard: 170 HP/125 kW). With the economical turbo petrol engine with 1.4 litre cubic capacity a dynamic 210 HP (154 kW) is available instead of the standard 160 HP (118 kW). The fact that the fuel consumption does not increase as a result is a matter of course at ABT Sportsline. The sportiest Tiguan is the one with the 2.0-TSI engine. The machinery is currently undergoing extensive testing but the technicians have already revealed that – depending on the series performance – either over 210 HP (154 kW) or as much as 250 HP (184 kW) will be reached.

It is of course clear that the SUV from Bavaria can manage a bit more. "We stand for a confident and classy appearance”, explains Hans-Jürgen Abt. The prominent front grill, the door strips, the rear wing set with the pronounced rear muffler and the rear wing give the vehicle optical traction and underline its harmonic design. ABT recommends the new DR alloys which suit the design of the Tiguan, as well as other light metal wheel creations such as the CR which also looks extremely good on the car. It goes without saying that all alloys are also available in combination with high-performance tyres.

The new Tiguan is part of the SUV family of ABT – and like the Touareg, the Q7 and the Q5, as well as the Q3 which is currently still in the starting blocks, the driver can look forward to the fact that his/her car can do a bit more.

ABT Sportsline is currently working flat out on the Kempten version of the new VW Beetle. Plenty of heart and soul is also put into the development of the components, as Hans-Jürgen Abt underlines. The new Beetle should also be an agile fun car, so a real Speedle. Like its successful predecessor which was built over 50 years ago, it also has to be completely reliable. A Beetle runs and runs and runs – that was how it was and how it has to be in the future. “With regards to performance improvements we can only look at combining maximum enjoyment with maximum reliability and everyday usability in balanced ABT POWER packages”, explains Hans-Jürgen Abt. As a result the engines of the ABT Beetle are currently undergoing extensive testing, which is why the exact performance data will only be supplied later.

These levels are realistic, based on the experience of the Development Department at ABT: with the 1.2 TSI the series standard 105 HP (77 kW) will be increased to around 140 HP (103 kW), while with the 1.4 TSI (series standard: 160 HP/118 kW) around 210 HP (154 kW) can be expected. "The two-litre turbo VW offers 200 HP or 147 kW, and we expect that the ABT version will provide 230/240 HP", says Hans-Jürgen Abt. The diesel versions of the Beetle will be economically-conscious Speedles: the 1.6 litre diesel engine will provide 125 HP (92 kW) instead of 105 HP (77 kW), and the 2.0 TDI will have 170 HP or 125 kW (series standard: 140 HP/103 kW). The ABT Performance Springs will ensure that the cool Beetle is fun to drive not just on windy Bavarian roads.

And of course the ABT Beetle is also a special car visually – the cuddly round car is a vehicle with a real edge so to speak. Its low centre of gravity shows that it is no ordinary vehicle. The front spoiler, rear skirt insert, rear skirt set with rear muffler and oval exhaust pipes, or even the side skirts underline the classic bodywork of the Beetle. With the front and rear headlight brows the car looks pleasant, fresh and sharp. Or to express it with a quote from the hit film “The Love Bug”: “Hey, he’s a nice little guy” – and like “Herbie” still a real winner. Since then decorative sets have been part of the Beetle, and ABT Sportsline is now linking retro styles with the latest trends, because the “Speedy-Beetle” is certainly not out of touch. It stands for the here and now and looks good on cool ABT DR wheels in a confident 19 inch size. The extravagant alloys are of course – as usual at ABT Sportsline – also available with high-performance tyres. Even though further details and a datasheet about the new ABT Beetle will only be available later, one thing is already certain: the new car will be a well-rounded package.

The ABT POWER S technology even makes 310 HP (228 kW) available, while the torque is increased from 550 Nm to 580 Nm or 610 Nm. For the silky-smooth V8 turbo diesel with its 4.2 litre cubic capacity, 385 HP or 283 kW (series standard: 340 HP / 250 kW) and a torque of 870 Nm (series standard: 800 Nm) are available.

The impression that the ABT Touareg is a formidably dominant automobile, which comes across as elegant and dominant, is further underlined by the designer wheels ABT BR and CR.
