The exclusive graphite metallic paintwork in combination with a silver tridion safety cell and silver alloy wheels creates a classic and elegant appearance. The interior is most notably upgraded by the exclusive leather package in crystal grey (a standard feature). The smart fortwo pearlgrey is available as a coupé and a cabrio with prices starting from €14,490.

From young and sassy to sporty-casual – the multitalented smart shines in many roles. Now the new limited special model smart fortwo pearlgrey has donned a classic and elegant appearance. Exterior features include exclusive graphite metallic paintwork which forms an attractive contrast to the silver tridion safety cell and the silver alloy wheels with a 3-double-spoke design. The mirror caps and radiator grille are also painted in graphite metallic and the mirror triangles feature pearlgrey logos. The front and rear axles are fitted with wide tyres measuring 175/55 R 15 (front) and 195/50 R 15 (rear).

The interior also boasts an elegant design. The exclusive leather package is a standard feature and lends the vehicle an unusual and luxurious look with seats in a mix of crystal grey leather and fabric. It also comprises the top part of the instrument panel in black imitation leather with contrasting light grey seams, a knee pad in crystal grey imitation leather and door trims in a combination of crystal grey imitation leather and fabric. The smart fortwo pearlgrey boasts matt silver contrast components. Further standard features include dashboard instruments (cockpit clock and rev counter), an audio system and exclusive floor mats featuring edition lettering.

The limited model is based on the passion equipment line which means that it comes with the softouch automatic gear programme, electric windows, air conditioning with automatic temperature control and a transparent panoramic roof with sunblind among other features. The optional equipment available includes heated seats, the smart surround sound system and the smart audio system navigation/multimedia.

The smart fortwo pearlgrey is available as a coupé and a cabrio with a 52kW micro hybrid drive petrol engine or a 62kW petrol engine with prices starting at €14,490. The special model can be ordered from 21 July 2011 and the first vehicles will reach dealers in November 2011.

Based on the 2010 passion model, the aggressively-styled edition urbanstyle will be limited to a UK production run of 230 coupé models – 160 units featuring the 71bhp (mhd)engine and 70 with the turbocharged 84bhp unit. A cabriolet version is available as a special order only.

With exclusive dark grey matt finish paintwork, which also extends to the attractive 6-spoke, 15” alloy wheels, and a tridion safety cell in gleaming black, the edition urbanstyle cuts a dash in the most fashionable of places.

The contemporary and sporty feel of the edition urbanstyle is also reflected in its stylish interior. Heated, nappa leather black seats with yellow double stitching and striking reflective stripes set the scene, while the 3-spoke steering wheel and gear shift knob are also finished in supple nappa leather. Door trims, knee pad and the instrument panel benefit from a leather-look finish and eye-catching matt silver details and yellow accents complete the interior’s ambience.

Navigating the bright lights is guaranteed to be an entertaining experience for the edition urbanstyle’s occupants too. In addition to the smart sound system, which provides crisp sound reproduction thanks to its 2 tweeters, 2 mid-range speakers, subwoofer and smart

MP3 interface, the model also has an integrated audio and navigation system. This advanced system incorporates a 5.8” touch screen, iPod®/USB connectivity, Bluetooth and radio/CD.

The new special model also demonstrates the smart fortwo style when it comes to environmental friendliness. Not only does it fulfil the strict exhaust gas standard EU 5, the 52 kW variant is moreover fitted with micro hybrid drive (mhd) technology as standard. This clever and comfortable automatic start/stop system shuts down the engine as soon as the driver brakes and the vehicle's speed falls below 8 km/h – for example when approaching traffic lights. The engine starts again in the fraction of a second when the driver releases the brake pedal. The system is fully automatic – the driver does not need to do anything. In urban traffic with frequent stop and go situations, mhd enables fuel savings of almost 20 percent.

Record low emissions of 86 grams of CO2 per kilometre: smart is the past and the present CO2 champion

SINDELFINGEN, Germany : February 05, 2010 - The smart fortwo cdi is maintaining its top position among the most environmentally friendly cars with a combustion engine. The smart fortwo cdi now emits just 86 g/km of CO₂ – less than all its competitors.


A high level of environmental friendliness is an innate characteristic of the successful smart fortwo cult car. The diesel model - the smart fortwo cdi - always underlined this claim with carbon dioxide emissions of just 88 grams per kilometre, the lowest figure worldwide for cars with a combustion engine. Now the smart fortwo is setting a new record with emissions of just 86 g/km or consumption of 3.3 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres in the manual “softip” mode which means that it keeps its title of CO₂ champion.

The smart engineers have been able to improve the smart fortwo cdi's fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions in the course of continuous further development. The measures included an improvement in the vehicle’s aerodynamics. A reduction in ride height by seven millimetres, for example, resulted in improved rolling resistance characteristics.

Marc Langenbrinck, Managing Director of the smart brand says: "We continue to work hard to make our smart models even more environmentally friendly. The smart fortwo cdi - the past and the present CO₂ champion - is proof of this.
